Nanchang Tengwang Pavilion
engwang Pavilion, located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, is one of the most famous historical and cultural landmarks in China. Known as the First Pavilion of Xijiang, it was originally built in 653 AD during the Tang Dynasty by Li Yuanying, the younger brother of Emperor Taizong. The pavilion is renowned for its stunning architecture and its association with the famous Tang Dynasty poet Wang Bo, who wrote the celebrated prose-poem Preface to the Tengwang Pavilion.
The current structure is a modern reconstruction, as the original pavilion has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times throughout history due to wars and natural disasters. The latest version, completed in 1989, stands nine stories tall and is a faithful representation of the original design, blending traditional Chinese architectural elements with modern construction techniques.
